In Memory of Lin

Each day I come to light anew
A candle bright to honor you
If I forget a day or two
It’s not that I’ve forgotten you

Your memory will never fade
Even after the tears give way
I’ll think of the smiles that you made
And sent to me so many days

You gave me strength when I was down
To pick myself up off the ground
To see that life was all around
And there was kindness to be found

You were a better friend to me
Than anything that I could be
I thought that then but did not see
That we’d soon be a memory

I do regret a thing or two
Like not giving as much as you
Always being so very blue
And maybe not being here for you

Blown away with the days it went
Time that was so easily spent
In waiting that lacked fulfillment
But I thought there’d be time to repent
