Indiscretions

A dark starless night
Lights up from a flash
Of lightening bright and bold

Shadows for that moment
No longer hidden
In recesses dark and cold

A blast of thunder
Echoes through the night
Riding high upon the air

The smell of burning wood
Assails the senses
Spreading from who knows where

Raindrops falling hard
Splatter to the ground
God’s tears overflowing

Washing away sins
Of past and present
Indiscretions unfolding

Sun peeking above
The far horizon
Ascending to a new day

Rising to its peak
It nurtures the loss
Bringing new life this way
