To Each His Own
To Each His Own
Someday your life will come full circle
And when it does you are going to find
That everyone travels that well-worn path
Though most leave their childhood behind
Who are you to flaunt your indiscretions
And then cry "fault" at every turn?
It seems that no matter what the lesson
You refuse to count that lesson learned
You bemoan the fate of a callous father
Yet repeat his behavior three fold
You see your youth as a permanent thing
While forgetting that everyone grows old
You respect one thing and that is money
You have no idea what honor is
As long as you have your toys your fun
It matters not what you're teaching your kids
Do you really think your son will one day
Look at you with pride or great respect
Those are the things you really must earn
Not things that you automatically get
It's been said many times "to each his own"
But never how much you may regret
I'd rather sacrifice some things now
And reap the rewards I'll later get
This nowhere trip has become tedious
With the scenery never changing
And trying trying try as I might
You'll never see more then the blaming
